Beginning Oil Landscape Painting From Photos - 2 session Workshop on Sat May 21 & Sun May 22

  • Lodi Community Art Center 110 W Pine St Lodi, CA, 95240 United States (map)

Instructor: Marilyn Eger

Schedule:

Day 1: Sat, May 21 9AM-4PM

Day 2: Sun, May 22 9AM-4PM

Workshop Description:

Each student will bring a landscape photo that they want to paint. The photo may include cows, goats, sheep, etc.

If you have several photos & need help deciding, email the images to me at jandmeger@gmail.com and I will give you feedback.

I will do a demonstration the first hour of class, then I will teach you to mix paint. I will give instruction on atmospheric perspective and use of your brushes. As you work I will give feedback & assist in corrections as needed.

If you draw really well, use burnt sienna thinned with turpenoid to draw right on the canvas panel. If you make a drawing error, use a rag & turpenoid & erase the mistake.

If you do not draw use carbon paper to transfer your image.

Class Audience:

Adult; will also accept advanced youth painters 16 or older.

Class Experience Level: Beginner

Class Size: 6 to 8 students

Required Supplies:

Canvas

I will provide an 11” x 14” warm (yellow, yellow ochre, orange, red) toned canvas board & carbon paper before each class begins.

If you want to paint larger, you must provide your own canvas.

If you are bringing your own canvas, tone your canvas a warm color. Mix the color with liquin and apply to the canvas.  It should be dry in  8 to 24 hours, depending on the weather.
