LIFE IS BUT A DREAM
Nina Boyd has been an artist since she was seven years old. Growing up, she had the privilege to be raised by parents who appreciated and encouraged the arts in their children. From a very young age, she participated in art classes, contests, and shows. Her love for art, and expressing fantastic worlds through it, grew.
As an adult, she enjoys creating art with a touch of surrealism more than ever. Her work is recognizable by its vivid colors, delicate line work, and tributes to fantasy. Nina Boyd earned her Bachelor’s of Art in California. She lives with her husband and cats in the Central Valley, where she is a member of the local community art center and the Lodi Open Studios Committee.
My show, "Life is But a Dream,” explores one of my favorite concepts: how we experience and process the beauty of the world while anticipating the inevitable loss we encounter as mortal beings.
The pieces I’ve created for this show explore the richest parts of life: the fleeting ones. Sometimes those moments are the daydreams in which we lose ourselves, then barely remember when we emerge into the waking world. Sometimes those moments are the brief glimpses of beauty we try to capture forever.
My show also delves into the introspective: the pieces of our lives that we try to analyze over a lifetime. Why do certain things persist in our minds? Will we ever get beyond them?
Certain dreams and desires follow us through our lives. Part of being human, I think, is a deep longing to explore and understand something beyond ourselves.
I hope you enjoy this exploration of all that makes life so nebulous - and what makes us human.
