I am a self-taught artist and a California native, where my love for art began at an early age. As a child, I was constantly creating with whatever was around me—natural materials, paper, crayons, ink, and pencil. Growing up surrounded by California’s diverse landscapes—the valley, desert, ocean, and mountains—instilled in me a lasting source of inspiration.
While teaching school full-time and raising a family, I continued to nurture my connection to art by collecting paintings, visiting galleries and museums, and traveling. Over time, this passion evolved into creating my own work across various mediums. Eventually, it led me to purchase and operate a small art gallery in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, where I spent several years immersed in the art community.
During that time, I began painting with plein air groups and traveled throughout the United States and Europe, deepening my artistic practice.
My commitment to plein air painting continues today, with oil paint now my primary medium.
I began working in oils in 2020 during a painting trip to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico—an experience that marked a turning point in my artistic journey. Since then, I have devoted myself to painting outdoors whenever possible, interpreting light, color, value, and form through both observation and emotional response. I am continually inspired by the idea that every place holds a unique beauty and a story waiting to be expressed.
