Gratitude Chain | Ages 3-11
“Inspired by this classroom project I did years ago as a kid, our family got together to make a gratitude chain one evening during dinner! It's a great, kid-friendly project to remind the people around you to be grateful of the little things in life! You can hang your gratitude chain by tying strings around both ends of your chain and taping them to the wall. We also loved the idea of using the garland as tabletop decor.”

This article provides insight into how art therapy helps in so many ways, including improving self-esteem and self-confidence, lowering anxiety and increasing insight and self-understanding.
There is also a list of supplies you may already have at home to engage your child (or yourself!) in at-home art projects.

“From building rock sculptures to creating collages made from organic materials, many artists incorporate nature into their work. This summer, encourage your students to explore the elements of art while in the great outdoors. Learn about line, shape, color, and texture while painting with water on the sidewalk, making flower collages, and creating sculptures on the playground.”

Monster Mash-Up | Ages 3-9
“For several months every year, our Seattle skies are filled with gray clouds. So as a kindergarten teacher, I was always on the lookout for easy, rainy day activities that would make inevitable indoor recesses fun for my students. Hands down, Monster Mash Up was one of the kids' all-time favorite projects. Now that I have children of my own, I can officially declare this simple activity a winner. It's guaranteed entertainment at doctors' offices, restaurants and on airplanes.”
